Non-Skippable Video Ads

What is a Pre-Roll ad?

A pre-roll ad on Hotstar is a 6-10 second non-skippable video ad that automatically plays before the video starts, on both mobile and desktop. 

The maximum duration of the ad will depend on the objective selected. For brand awareness and traffic objective, the maximum duration of a pre-roll ad will be 6 seconds. For impact objective, the maximum duration of a pre-roll ad will be 10 seconds.  

When should I use this ad format?

Pre-roll video ads are a good choice if you'd like to spread the word about a new product, promote specific offers or deliver segmented messages.

How will I be charged?

You will be charged at cost per 1000 impressions (CPM) or cost per completed views (CPCV). 
  1. CPM: Ad impression counted when the ad starts playing in the app or browser
  2. CPCV: View counted when ad completes, irrespective of ad length


2. Mid Roll 



What is a Mid-Roll ad?
A mid-roll ad on Hotstar is a 10-60 second non-skippable ad that plays within the video stream.

When should I use this ad format?
Mid-roll video ads are better suited for branding or driving consideration.

How will I be charged?
You will be charged at cost per 1000 impressions (CPM) or cost per completed views (CPCV). Pricing will depend on the level of targeting and the duration of your ad. 
  1. CPM: Ad impression counted when ad starts playing in the app or browser
  2. CPCV: View counted when ad completes, irrespective of ad length



Display Ads

1. In-Stream Display 


What is an In-Stream Display ad?
In-stream display ads are high-performance display ads played within the video stream in pre-rolls and mid-rolls.

When should I use this ad format?
In-Stream Display ads are ideal for brand recall, driving consideration or traffic to the website. 

How will I be charged?
You will be charged at cost per 1000 impressions (CPM) or cost per clicks (CPC). 
  1. CPM: Ad impression counted when ad starts playing in the app or browser
  2. CPC: Click counted to desired landing page or destination

2. Native Frame 


What is a Native Frame ad?
Native Frames are native display ads that are placed on Disney+ Hotstar home page as your audience browses for content.

When should I use this ad format?
Native Frames are best suited for driving consideration or traffic to your website.

How will I be charged?

You will be charged at cost per 1000 impressions (CPM) or cost per clicks (CPC). 

  1. CPM: Ad impression counted when ad starts playing in the app or browser
  2. CPC: Click counted to desired landing page or destination


3. Spotlight Stubs 

What is a Spotlight Stub?
A spotlight stub is a native display ads that are placed alongside video content on Disney+ Hotstar. 

When should I use this ad format?
Spotlight stubs are a good choice for driving consideration or traffic to your website.

How will I be charged?

You will be charged at cost-per-clicks (CPC). 

  1. CPM: Ad impression counted when ad starts playing in the app or browser
  2. CPC: Click counted to desired landing page or destination
